One of the biggest surprises we've gotten in our short life here at The Club at Old Hawthorne is the positive impression we're having on our residents, members and guests.
It tells us that our hard work and planning is coming to fruition.
It's not the end, but only the beginning of the journey. We will not rest on our laurels.
"One of my fondest memories as a kid was heading out to the Golf club every weekend with my Dad. We would play a quick nine and then I would join my mom and sister at the pool while dad finished up. Old Hawthorne is a premier golf club where I look forward to re-living those weekly family destinations with my own daughter.” — Ryan W. Euliss Manager of Engineering and Technical Services Boone Electric Cooperative
“Three years ago, looking at the probability of retiring, we began looking at communities. The criteria we had in mind included a planned community of homes, villas and condos. It had to have an excellent golf course. It would be a first-class country club with casual and fine dining. There would be a pool and exercise facilities. It would be nice to be in the country yet near a smaller city, a college town seemed ideal. We had kids attending Mizzou and really liked Columbia but as much as we looked, there was no community as just described. Then our soon to be in-laws asked if we were aware of a new development going in just east of downtown Columbia. We hustled up to take a look. All that was there was a budding golf course an old mansion and some really neat plans. Billy Sapp took us through the old house and explained the plans for the community. We met with a builder (John Hansman) and after getting detailed information we had a serendipitous epiphany; we had found what we were looking for! The rest is history. We immediately put our St. Louis home on the market and put John to work. We were one of (if not, the) first people to move to Old Hawthorne and we love it. Like a fine wine, it will only improve with age.” — Tim Dawson
"Old Hawthorne's program for out-of-town members may be the best value in the Midwest. The one-time entry fee and modest monthly fee provides the opportunity for membership at a premier club and golf course. Although I live seven hours from Columbia, due to my national membership at Old Hawthorne, I can't wait to return time and time again. I find myself rushing out to the course as soon as I arrive in town." "I have the opportunity to travel extensively and play golf on many different upscale golf courses. I would rate Old Hawthorne as one of the most beautiful courses in America. The natural setting, the manicured greens, and the five-star service from the club staff create a wonderful golf experience that can be enjoyed over and over again." — Mark Benedetto
“The Club at Old Hawthorne is something rare in golf today. I've never played a brand new course that has been blessed with the character, terrain and play of Old Hawthorne. It's mature and filled with so much great character that it plays on a level with some of the great California courses I've played on the Monterrey Peninsula and the southern California "Gold Coast". From the first day of play it's been beautiful, challenging and fun. The entire staff is awesome. We love calling it our home course in Missouri." — Steve Torres Director of Construction Thomas Kinkade Masterpiece Homes Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
“It's great fun to play Old Hawthorne. The course challenges you to bite off more than you can chew. That's where the fun comes in: Do you try it or not. Either choice you make, the remainder of the hole will be challenging. Just a little more if you do go for it!” — Hal Gibbs.
“The course speaks for itself. A wonderful track that challenges golfers of all abilities! As for the practice facilities, I dare you to try and find any better!” — Jon Boucher
“I have waited for central Missouri to open a club with a top-tier golf course for many years. Being at Old Hawthorne has been a wonderful experience. Playing a championship course every day has been outstanding but the practice facility is one of the best in the state! Staff, facilities and the golf course have exceeded my expectations. I'm proud to be a member and look forward to the growth of the club for years to come.” — Scott Swain
“You would be hard pressed to find a better golf course and finer clubhouse facilities anywhere in the country in a city the size of Columbia. We have been fortunate to live on private courses in Colorado and Arizona and The Club at Old Hawthorne is by far the best. We are proud to be members and to live at The Club at Old Hawthorne.” — Bill and Jean Baird
“We have found Hawthorne to be an ideal spot for client one-on-one lunches. The service, food and setting our second to none. Congrats to the entire staff.” — Dave Leathers
“The golf course is a fantastic venue, offering the golfer of any skill level an opportunity to test their ability while still enjoying the experience with its multiple tees and large undulating greens. The design and layout is what you would expect of a major championship golf course. This is a golf course I look forward to playing many times with great enjoyment and the ability to have it play differently each time, depending on the set of tees utilized. The Club at Old Hawthorne is a gem in the crown of golf courses in Missouri.” — Randy Bickel, Junior Director, Missouri Golf Association
“I get asked 15 times a day about the course and I'm so glad I got the tour. It really is spectacular. I love the options, the bent chipping areas (Nicklaus has those at Valhalla), and the giant green on the short hole. It all makes sense. Walking is also possible, making it a great place for USGA qualifiers. Most new sites are not playable on foot, and the older courses are becoming too short. This may be "just right." — Scott Bess PGA Professional
“Outstanding! In one word, that is how I would describe The Club at Old Hawthorne. This new golf complex has everything that you look for in a golf course and country club. You can tell by just walking out on the course that nothing has been done unless it was done for the best. It gives players of all skill levels a chance to enjoy the beautiful layout. Most golf courses will give at least one or two holes that you can relax and have a break on, not the case here. From the Tournament Tees I could not find one hole that allows you a break! The Club at Old Hawthorne is going to be a gem, and I foresee it being one of the top country clubs in the State of Missouri for years to come.” — Scott Hovis, Executive Director, Missouri Golf Association
